Selena
She was singer performer designer and broke barriers in the music industry. She was at once traditional and modern a Mexican-American performer who merged both realms of music in an unison way. And she provided amazing Tejano music to an affluent audience. Her tragic death cut a hole in her growing popularity and, like many times when a bright deeply genial superstar dies young, she caused many to grieve every potential that was not fully realized. Over the years, the fans became inspired to work even harder in order to ensure that her achievements would not be forgotten. Her tragic murder by a gunman caused the outpouring of emotions within Latino communities, similar the way people reacted following the deaths of Elvis Presley as well as John Lennon's. The music of Selena, a singer who was hugely success throughout Latino communities across North America touched people young and old. Selena has been called by many as the Latina Madonna, however she's still an excellent character model. Selena's family values off stage as well as her involvement with AIDS awareness programs make her a good example.
