Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) more popularly known as her professional name Ari Lennox is an American artist and singer hailing from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be associated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. In October 21st, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP on the Dreamville Records label. That was the day she began to gain notoriety. Her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music online in 2012 when she released five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued uploading her songs online, including her independent single Bound. Sweat It is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21 2015. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's reference. In the following season, the music was circulating around Dreamville. The official signing ceremony was held to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was her contribution for The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018, Ari Lennox appeared on two tracks featuring EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas on Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. On the 9th November she dropped two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two additional singles were also released by her on 11/13, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, the 26th of February, 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed alongside Cole in the Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. In February 2019 her music video to the song was released. The track has garnered over 3 million YouTube views in just one week. In December 2018, she performed as a supporting act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
