Kim Delaney was an American actor from the United States. Her most well-known role is for her character, detective Diane Russell, in the ABC series NYPD Blue. For this she received an Emmy Award. In addition, she was a part of dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the sole child of the United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a housewife. Her childhood was spent within a household which included four brothers. The idea of becoming a court reporter during her early years, but began modeling in high school eventually garnering commercials when she moved from New York. Her first film role was as a teen innocent in All My Children, a 1981 soap opera. Delaney's career has been filled by a myriad of TV films and dramas. Contrary to her career success, her private life isn't as happy and prosperous. In the past, this talented actress struggled to overcome the effects of alcohol and two marriages fall apart. She was divorced in 2005 and lost custody of her only child she was born with.
